Maintenance Mode

Maintenance Mode allows administrators to temporarily disable XDM for non-admin users during a specified maintenance window on a chosen date. This enables maintainers to carry out tasks such as installing updates, OS patches, backups, and other maintenance activities without user interference.

When Maintenance Mode is activated:

  • Non-admin users are prevented from accessing the system and cannot initiate any task executions.

  • Any active sessions for non-admin users are terminated, logging them out automatically.

  • New login attempts from non-admin users are blocked.

  • Admin users can still access the system and perform tasks as usual.

Configuration

Maintenance Mode can be activated through a announcement of type MAINTENANCE, which can only be created and published by users with the ADMIN role. The message content of this announcement is displayed on the login screen, where non-admin users see it if they attempt to log in. This message can be used to explain the reason for the maintenance and indicate when the system is expected to be available again.

If a specific time window is set with a start and end date, maintenance mode will be automatically active during this period. XDM will activate maintenance mode at the specified start time and deactivate it at the end time.

When the announcement is published, all active non-admin users are logged out and prevented from logging back in until the maintenance period ends. Only admin users can log in during this time.
